Sad day today as Ralph and Illona
departed early this morning and headed north for Celestino Gasca.
They are going for a train ride up the Copper Canyon. A day each way
on the train and a few nights in the Canyon.. The lucky bums. This
Canyon is suppose to be even more spectacular then the Grand Canyon. I
can hardly wait to see their photos. Cathie and I would have seen
this Canyon many years ago, except they do not allow dogs on the
train, and if they did, I'm not sure Kona would do well based on his
performance on the small trolly lifts he has ridden. Please don't mention any of this to Kona as he would feel bad.
We just spent 4 days in La Manzanilla,
at Don Gabis campground.
I know I have many favorites, but this is
one of my favorite favorites. The campground holds about 6 of 7 units,
right on the beach, 2 minute walk to town. They have clean washrooms,
and we had hot showers with my solar shower.
Hammocks on the beach under the palapa,
sandy beach....
Now one thing that had changed from
last year was the security chain link fence around the cocodrilos. It
seemed to be missing a large section, right where grandpa cocodrilo
liked to hang out.
One morning while walking to town sure enough gramps was there sunning himself. Mouth wide open and
very still. We walked by quickly about 10 feet from him, and made sure
not to disturb him.
Rays tail pipe had broken in two on
the bumpy drive out of Mayto the other day, so one morning we got the
engineering department to come up with a repair solution. Ralph and I
were most helpful providing Ray with many solution and options.
Ray
decided to go with the four hose clamp and tin can wrap option. Ralph
and I provided lots of encouragement and we had it repaired in no
time.
Also in La Manzanilla after watching
the sunset, we took in some evening music at Polapa Joe's. One night
a guy from Powell River was playing. He plays Powell River in the
summer and La Manzanilla in the winter..... I gotta learn how to play
guitar.... keep rhythm.... lyrics to several songs, and how to
sing.... Think I best keep my day job.
Snorkeling was good at La Manzanilla,
except Cathie had a little issue with a jelly fish. It got her in the
lip and it did swell up. I took some very special care of it ;-) and
she is fine now. I'm sure glad Ray didn't get stung.
The Gals enjoyed the Market and saved
lots of money on a few sundresses. They look real nice I might add.
Now we are back in Lo de Marcos. We
arrived Saturday evening. Sunday after Ralp and Illona left we got to
work getting the vans ready for the upcoming paint jobs. We pulled
the fridge, awnings, and cupboards from the Vans.
We have moved into
a 2 bedroom suite that is very comfortable. This was done in the nick
of time as it rained most of yesterday and all last night.
Lots of
rain, but it looks like we will be back
in the sun before you finish reading this post.
It's very comfy hanging in the suite,
listening to the rain, playing games in the evening. Kona is sleeping on the floor. He is too tired to
even bother our pet gecko that we have spotted on the wall a couple
times. Ray and Lydia are reading, and Cathie is reading or dreaming,
can't really tell from this angle. I'll be heading back to Sayulita
this afternoon to get my tooth ready for a crown,... this should be
fun, who doesn't like going to the dentist.
Gotta go brush my teeth,
Hasta Luego from Lo de Marcos.
A few more photos you may enjoy
Cool bike we came across. It's a one speed, direct drive, has a brake on the back wheel.
